I figured this out today. Our company vehicles use flexfuel so we started using E85 which is much cheaper. Turns out that our gas mileage plummeted. In summary, the cost to go 500 miles is exactly the same or more when we use ethanol

Car and Driver (can't find the link) says much the same thing about E-85's lower mileage. Me? I'm not shocked. Put less bang in the tank, get fewer miles on the road.
And according to Time Magazine (argh!--can't find that link, either), the soybean crop that is being displaced by our newfound enthusiasm for corn is being grown in Brazil. In cleared rain forests. You know, those heavily-green areas on the maps which thrive on converting carbon dioxide to oxygen...
I'm no treehugger, so go back to regular gas and save yourself a buck or two.

And he is probably right. Inflation can act like that snowball rolling down a hill. Fuel prices are driving that snowball. When the Fed gets done overreacting to the housing/credit situation watch them wake up to inflation and overreact to that looming menace.
