Regarding the LOTR story
Regarding the LOTR story
The line :Saul Zaentz, who bought the rights in 1976.
clarifies it for me.
How can any heir be entitled to intellectual property when all rights have been sold. Whine all you want about how much the films made, that is irrelevant. The point is the Tolkien family ceased to own any such right from that date in 1976, unless the contract said otherwise. The lawsuit is a big waste of time and money, the only ones who will win will be the lawyers as always.
